I think of myself as a visionary Speech-Language Pathologist and creator of the Karma Love Project, dedicated to transforming how therapists communicate and care for themselves. With a robust 500-hour yoga teaching certification and a 500-hour mindfulness teaching certification, I seamlessly merge communication skills with holistic wellness practices, creating a truly unique and impactful approach.
The seeds of my journey into mindfulness were sown during a formative phase as a post-doctoral fellow at Columbia University's Neurocognition of Language Lab in 2004. This pivotal experience introduced me to mindfulness, igniting a lifelong passion for mindfulness-based tools that have since enriched both my personal life and professional practice.
Recognizing the unique challenges therapists face, I have crafted an approach that incorporates mindful self-care strategies into the provision of speech-language services. This dual focus not only fosters clear, authentic communication but also cultivates mental resilience and a balanced presence.
As a sought-after voice in the intersection of trauma-sensitive and mindfulness-based practices, I have shared my expertise as an invited speaker and through interviews with esteemed platforms like the Wall Street Journal. Trained extensively in these methodologies, with a particular emphasis on restorative yoga, I underscore the critical importance of rest—not just as a survival strategy but as a catalyst for thriving in both the therapeutic and entrepreneurial worlds.
In the personalized sessions I offer, therapists engage in dynamic communication skill-building alongside mindfulness exercises and yoga techniques. This holistic blend empowers them to tackle their busy lives with clarity and equilibrium, ensuring they remain grounded amidst the demands of their pursuits.
Beyond individual sessions, I am passionately committed to spreading the message of self-care for therapists through dynamic workshops and classes. Ever eager to grow and share, I continuously seek out cutting-edge wellness and therapeutic knowledge to refine my support offerings.
With a blend of empathetic understanding, insightful guidance, and holistic expertise, I am on a mission to help therapists unlock their full potential. Through strategic self-expression and sustainable self-care, I believe every therapist can achieve both profound impact and personal balance.
I founded The Karma Love Project after attending mindfulness and yoga teacher training programs where I realized that I had a slightly different approach than the one that I learned. My programs were amazing, but when I went to work with people from my community (primarily people of color), I needed to adapt my teaching style to their needs. This meant offering context for the practice and making both mindfulness and yoga relatable. Mindfulness and yoga practices have helped me and I really want to ensure that they are accessible for diverse populations.
